Question from the scientist:
I am interested in approaches that can rationalize mysticism.
I understand that the ultimate experiences of mystics cannot be put into words.
However, i believe the foundations and practices of mystics can be rationalized.
Answer from the mystic:
Try this….
Be aware of yourself!
Watch yourself!
Watch your body
Watch your thoughts
Watch your emotions
Who is watching 'yourself'’????
Are there two You’s??
The watcher and the bewatched?
Who is the real You?
Do see the real You?
Try it
All your life!
Ask your self: “Who am I?”
You’ll never find You…..
You’ll never find the ‘I’ in me, or the ‘I’ in your friends, or the
‘I’ in yourself….
No science, no rationalization, not any form of thinking can reach the real you..
You can only be it…
Try to understand this…it’s the last thing you can do……the last thing
you can think……
The real you is not an object
Science cannot do anything with it
It cannot put it apart from other objects
It can’t grab it, divide it, blow it, torture it
It is nowhere to be found
You can only be it..
Why can’t you accept this?
It is the only real truth you know: “I exist” Do you want to prove that to
yourself? You are! Or do you not exist?
So science and mysticism have no common ground here
Science is about knowing
Mysticism is about being
So the mystic who tries to help the scientist by rationalizing his source is
leaving himself.....
And he has become a scientist..
Poor man….he is looking at the wrong direction!
He's lost himself!
(A man was deeply moved by Mozart’s Requiem: a scientist stood outside the
theater and asked the man for his experiences. He didn’t believe the man….”Proof it” he asked the man)
