Beware! This is the direct and
immediate introduction to the natural state, the actuality 'That Thou Art',
expressed through 'Sailor' Bob Adamson and addressed to seekers who have found
their way to him over the past 30 years.
I discovered him after I
read the website of Gilbert Schultz. Gilberts notes hit me like a hammer. A big
hammer. After that I searched for the 'guru' of Gilbert. I bought his two books
and the book of James Braha.
Bob's search ended one day
in 1976 when he was in the presence of Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, the much revered
Jnani who functioned always from the 'natural state'. Nisargadatta told Bob that
"the greatest help that can be given to anyone is to take them beyond the
need for further help."
Bob says: "Nisargadatta
did this by pointing to the reality, the actuality, THAT I AM. Now, I abide as
THAT."
In my own (Rob's) words: You, I, are not the
thinking. We don't have to wait for an understanding of The Theory. The mind
will never grasp reality. We are reality. We don't have to do anything. We are
already That! We can't fall out of ourself. The only thing we can do, is to
see what's false and what is real, just by looking. We can stop the search.
We are already That. Our thinking, our theories are false. Everything we
can see, hear, feel, smell & taste can never be what we are. Those are all
objects. And what we really are can never be an object. We are That which is
impossible to find.
So as the opportunity arises,
Bob passes on this message to those who are attracted to this wisdom.
Take this for instance:
"Self shining
presence-awareness is not the result of effort. There is no need to try to do
something with the expectation that suddenly awareness will be there.
Presence-awareness is always here and now whether it is recognized or seemingly
lost. It is not something that can be created or destroyed. Conceptual thinking
is like the cloud that seemingly blocks the sun. Being at ease in non-conceptual
naturalness is presence awareness already here and now. Re-cognize again, and
again, and again, and the knowing it is always so, is constant, in spite of what
appears and disappears. Self-knowing, self-shining-- just this, nothing else".
...Well this is
it!.... This what is reading these sentences. This what is looking at the
monitor.......
Well these sentences broke my resistance....
They come from the second book about 'Sailor' Bob 'Presence Awareness' Chapter 13:
"The Search is the Trap"
Bob: The search itself is the trap. You are already what you are seeking.
You think there is something to attain or to get. You have never
been anything other than that, and never could be. We hear that, but how
many of us really take a good look at it and stick with it, hang onto it? What
do we do? 'That is not good enough!' We will race away and look at
somebody else. We will go to somebody else, hear somebody else, read
another book or do this or do that, thinking we will get the answer somewhere
else. But the only place the answer is, is with you.. It is not with
anybody else. You already are that. You can't be anything else other
than that.
Well I had figured that out for myself 12
years ago. Searching is stepping out of Now. We enter Time and Space by
looking for something that we hope to find soon at the end of a rainbow. But
we are looking outside. We forget who is looking. What is that which is
searching? Which needs are to be fulfilled till we'll be satisfied? It's all
duality. We'll never be satisfied in the outside world. I fell in the trap.
After my first BIG Understanding, I expected a simple and joyful life. Well,
it wasn't. I was disappointed. I had done something wrong, I thought. The
search was on the way again.....
Well, another pointer of
Bob
"If you are seeking truth, reality, God
or whatever you like to call it, I suggest you start with the only reality you
are absolutely certain of that is the fact of your own being. There is no one
sitting here who can say 'I am not'. Each one of us knows 'I am'. But that
thought 'I am' is not the reality. It is the closest you will ever get to it
with the mind. That 'I am' is just a translation by the mind of that sense of
awareness, the awareness of presence or the presences of that awareness. That is
the only reality we are absolutely certain of. Nobody under any circumstances
can say 'I am not'. That knowing is constantly and ever with us. And that is why
we say that what you are seeking you already are."
More
pointers from Bob:
"What's wrong with Right Now - unless
you think about it?"
"Let the thought go - drop it - if only
for an instant - you see that, that silence - that stillness - that clarity -
that shining beingness is there, as it ever was and will be"
(and that 'you' and 'see' is beingness itself!...rob)
"What you are seeking, you already are.
So it is foolish to carry on the search. The only place the search started
from, is in the mind"
"It is the nature of the mind to divide"
"The false cannot stand up to the
investigation"
"It is right here - right now as What
Is - In knowing that, how can there be any conflict? -- Relax and be what
you are"
"It is only in the mind that this
conflict goes on!"
Well, there is so much more to write about Sailor Bob,
but the internet offers rich sources about his ideas and about his 'Sons &
Daughters'. Bob is old enough to be the father of a lot of pupils who have get
his message and have started the teaching themselves. A couple of them you'll
meet on my website. Follow the links I would like to suggest.
For me Bob Adamson has demystified the enigma of
Enlightment. Thanks to his clarity the truth is now undeniable. After reading
and hearing Bob I understood Nisargadatta. When I studied Nisargadatta I
tended to overlook This Moment. I kept waiting for a miracle, but when that
happened (and they did!) my life didn't change. No wonder, as I tried to
repeat spontaneous appearances. I was on the road of seeking again....
Now I'm back where I am. Here, Now.
